Look – death of the CD turns up 228,000 hits on Google. That's not an insignificant number – certainly more than death of the aardvark, which only turns up a paltry three results. The death of the CD as a format is running concurrently with, and has become analogous to, the decline in the fortunes of the music business as a whole – not least because of their stubborn reluctance to adapt to new models of digital distribution. But my own perspective on the death of the CD didn't really hit home until today, when I started seriously considering jettisoning all the ones I own.( Read more... )
