For as long as YouTube has been around, there seem to have been websites and tools that have let you grab the embedded videos and download them to your computer. A quick web search throws up a few dozen of them instantly – but one of those, on the TechCrunch website, was blocked by YouTube a couple of weeks back. It's not clear why TechCrunch's was singled out, especially as nearly all the others, including KeepVid, are still up and running.
